NTIA Releases List of BABA Self-Certifying Companies
The NTIA has released a self-certification list of vendors meeting BABA, or Build America, Buy America, requirements.
There are 19 companies listed on this first version. The list enables manufacturers to voluntarily certify that certain equipment, which could be used for BEAD-funded broadband projects, meets the requirement that it be made domestically.
The NTIA said “Giving companies a self-certification option, with the safeguards of federal penalties for misrepresentations, helps create a level playing field and provide an additional layer of compliance with the BABA requirement.”
[Note: you can watch this story in the clip below, on the BEAD/BABA Rundown:]
According to the NTIA, the list is “a direct response from manufacturer feedback that NTIA heard during the creation of the BABA waiver for the BEAD Program.”
The agency said that concerns were expressed about companies falsely claiming BABA compliance.
Who is on the BABA self-certification list?
The companies on the list are, in alphabetical order: Adtran, Aether Fiber Solutions, AFL, Bekaert Corporation, Calix, Ciena, Clearfield, CommScope, Corning, DZS, Great Lakes Data Racks & Cabinets, National Strand, Nokia of America, OFS Fitel, PPC Broadband, Preformed Line Products Company, and Prysmian.
The list can be found here, which includes a form companies can use to join the list.
