Spectrum Commits $2.5 Million to Support L.A. Relief Efforts

Telecom providers take action where they can to mitigate fallout.

Spectrum announced a commitment of $500,000 in cash contributions to be split between the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, American Red Cross Los Angeles Region, and the California Fire Foundation. As well as a $1 million commitment to assist small businesses in the Los Angeles area and $1 million to PSA airtime to support nonprofit organizations—totaling $2.5 million.

They have also established a microsite to facilitate employee donations to the American Red Cross.

Other providers

AT&T deployed its FirstNet Response team to the area to help with emergency services, and is waiving overage charges for customers. Verizon is also waiving data, call and text charges for customers in the area and deploying generators, T-Mobile is offering umlimited data, text, and calls for affected customers, deploying generators, and starting an early test launch of a test its Starlink partnership service to allow emergency alerts and texts. Starlink itself is offering temporary free service to affected households.
