The Fiber Optic Association Reaches Milestone
The Fiber Optic Association, Inc. (FOA), the international professional association of fiber optics, has reached a milestone in certifying over 100,000 fiber optic technicians.
FOA president and founder Jim Hayes noted, “Achieving this milestone, the FOA and its network of trainers have proven their ability to build the workforce the fiber optic industry needs and reflects the acceptance of the FOA by the industry.”
The FOA never intended to be a training organization. It sets the standards and develops the curriculum for training organizations and instructors who do the training. FOA uses its worldwide network of experts to define the requirements for the jobs of the fiber optic workforce as KSAs, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and develop the world’s largest knowledge base in fiber optics. Building on this foundation, FOA has created a worldwide network of hundreds of schools and instructors who do the training while FOA acts as the recognized certifying body for fiber optic technicians.
