Emtelle: QWKlink Pre-Connectorized Solution for All Telecom Operators

Aug. 1, 2023
Emtelle’s QWKlink Pre-Connectorized drop cable allows for fiber connectors of specific types—SC or LC APC ferrule. It is small enough to store any excess cable in a two-inch square box and eliminates the need for fiber splicing.

Emtelle’s QWKlink is a pre-connectorized drop cable small enough to store any excess cable into a two-inch square box and eliminates the need for splicing fiber.

Pre-connectorized solutions are not new, but what makes QWKlink revolutionary is that it is pre-connectorized during manufacture, allowing for fiber connectors of specific types—SC or LC APC ferrule—to be installed. The QWKlink range of fiber is supplied with a ferrule which can be blown into a microduct with a minimum diameter of 3.5mm, and then built up after installation, often within seconds. The pre-connectorized fiber bundles can be blown from 25m up to 500m in new and existing blown fiber networks.

Concrete benefits to Broadband Service Providers:

  • Pre-connectorized fiber bundle allows for fiber connectors on both ends, which eliminates the need to splice fibers for FTTx drop applications.
  • This elimination of splicing significantly simplifies the installation process.
  • Reduces the overall cost of network deployment, a huge benefit to BSPs struggling to recruit skilled workers currently needed to carry out splicing.

Judge’s Comment: “Pre-connectorizing is the way of the future and many companies are going in this direction. This product allows you to pre-connectorize at one or both ends, this is a differentiator. The fact that this is done in a controlled environment drives up the quality of the actual splice.”
